Our Story
About City of Hope Worship Center
City of Hope Worship Center was born from a simple, powerful vision: to be a beacon of God’s love and hope in the heart of Kisumu. Located at Elgons Junction along Kibos Road, we are more than just a building; we are a vibrant, growing family of believers. Our journey began with a passion to reach the community with the transformative message of Jesus Christ—a message that restores brokenness, renews purpose, and builds a lasting foundation of faith.
We are a place where everyone is welcome, no matter their past or present. Our story is written by the lives that are changed each week as we worship, learn, and serve together.
Meet Our Pastor
Bsp. Joab Othatcher and his wife, Pst. Philomena Othatcher, have been faithfully serving the Kisumu community with passion and dedication. Under their leadership, City of Hope has grown into a family-focused church known for its practical Bible teaching and heartfelt worship. Their heart is to see individuals and families discover their God-given identity and walk in the fullness of His promises.

Our Vision: To be a Christ-centered community known for its powerful worship, compassionate outreach, and transformative impact in Kisumu and beyond.
Our Core Beliefs
At City of Hope, our foundation is the Word of God. We believe in:
The Bible as the inspired and authoritative Word of God.
The Trinity: One God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Salvation of humanity through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Power of the Holy Spirit to equip us for holy living and effective ministry.
The Church as the body of Christ, called to worship, fellowship, and spread the Gospel.
Why "City of Hope"?
The name is our promise and our purpose. In a world of uncertainty, we point to the eternal hope found in Christ. We are a “city”—a community set on a hill—where hope is restored, families are strengthened, and destinies are fulfilled. We are not just in Kisumu; we are here for Kisumu, actively working to be a source of light and tangible hope in our city.
